What is the goal of Integrated Data Systems Department?
The Vision
Schools, government agencies, and community based organizations who serve Fresno children and families have access to real time data to make decisions, provide the right support at the right time, and allocate resources effectively so more students will thrive.
The Challenge
Currently, our students are also served by a number of local non-profit providers and government agencies, yet many students and their families do not receive the support they need while others might receive duplicate services. While some challenges stem from a lack of resources to scale programs, others result from a lack of data sharing across sectors and agencies. Because there are no integrated data systems across providers, it is impossible to obtain a full picture of needs and services in Fresno, and therefore difficult to understand the relationship between individual programs and outcomes. These gaps lead to some children and families receiving duplicative services while others receive no services at all.
The Solution
To serve children and families effectively and efficiently data must be transformed, from a tool for compliance to one that empowers the allocation and coordination of services and fuels continuous improvement. Our department positively impacts Fresno County schools and their community partners by providing the infrastructure and support needed to use data in an actionable way. This cross-sector integrated system will help small school districts, and others, who don’t currently have the capacity to turn a variety of data points into information that can help drive valuable improvements. FCSS and community partners will develop an integrated system to improve care coordination and use data for action, serving multiple populations in Fresno. This cross-sector integrated system will help program leaders and policymakers better understand the needs of children and families while supporting continuous program improvements, innovation, policy and research.
