K-16 Collaborative Dual Enrollment Project
Using data to develop insights around the dual enrollment experience
The K-16 Collaborative is part of the Developing the Region’s Inclusive and Vibrant Economy (DRIVE) Investment Plan and is situated in the human capital part of the DRIVE portfolio. Economic mobility generated by post-secondary enrollment and completion of degree or certification programs is central to the goals of DRIVE and priorities of the K-16 Collaborative.
The IDS Team is working with the K-16 Collaborative to create and share unique IDs at the student level. The initial pilot will use a matching process to identify students who were in K-12 and are now in higher education.
Participants in the K-16 project include Fresno Unified, Central Unified, Sanger Unified, Clovis Unified, State Center Community College District, Fresno Pacific, UC Merced and Fresno State.
Data sharing, matching and creating unique IDs will allow for valuable insights around dual enrollment (students taking college-level classes while still in high school). Dual enrollment programs can significantly advance educational attainment for students and put them on a career path aligned with the specific workforce needs of the region.

Key insights include:
• Students who might benefit from or be interested in targeted dual enrollment pathways
• Which students started on a dual enrollment pathway and how they fared in higher education
• Which key attributes in a student’s high school experience predict success in a pathway that extends through college completion
• Whether students are provided access to courses and support that enhance equity or are there barriers to equity that necessitate a change
